Abstract: 

Objective: Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a chronic, highly prevalent neurodevelopmental disorder which affects 9% of school-age children. Triple P-POSITIVE PARENTING PROGRAM is an evidence-based PARENTING PROGRAM reported to be useful in the management of this disorder. The aim of this randomized controlled trial was to evaluate the effectiveness of Triple P in mothers of ADHD children.METHODs: In this study, 30 mothers with ADHD children aged between 6 to 10 were randomly assigned to two groups (15 participants in each group). PARENTING style, mother-child relationship, maternal depression, anxiety and stress, and children’s behavioral problems were evaluated. The intervention group received 120 minute sessions for 5 weeks and 15-30 minute telephone contacts for 3 weeks while no intervention was done for the control group.Results: Analysis of covariance revealed that mothers of the Triple P group showed significant (p<0.01) improvements in PARENTING style, mother-child relationship, and considerable decrease in depression, anxiety and stress. Women trained in the Triple P group also reported significantly lower rates of child misbehavior than women of the control group.Conclusion: Triple P-POSITIVE PARENTING intervention is effective and acceptable for mothers of ADHD children.

Abstract: 

Background and Aim: Research indicates that impaired hearing is one of the most stressful disabilities. The PARENTING stress involved could lead to family malfunction and improper PARENTING. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the effects of POSITIVE PARENTING PROGRAMs on the PARENTING stress of mothers with impaired hearing children.METHODs: The statistical population comprised mothers of all 7-12-year-old impaired hearing children in Tehran city. Thereafter, using the random sampling METHOD, 24 individuals were shortlisted as research participants and were randomly assigned to two groups: control and experimental. The experimental group was trained with a POSITIVE PARENTING PROGRAM based on the Sanders PROGRAM (1993) over eight sessions. The measurement instrument was the Abidin PARENTING stress questionnaire.Results: The mean score for grades in the experimental groups’ parent and child domains at the preand post-test stages had reduced more than that in the control group. In addition, the results of a multivariate covariance analysis indicated that POSITIVE PARENTING training was effective in the reduction of PARENTING stress scores, reinforcement, and child mood components in the child domain, and in the feelings of competence, relationships with the spouse, and role limitation components (p<0.05) in the parent domain.Conclusion: Considering the benefits of training parents for the reduction of PARENTING stress of mothers with impaired hearing children, this METHOD is recommended in all learning centers for the deaf.

Abstract: 

The objective of present study was to investigate the effectiveness of “POSITIVE PARENTING PROGRAM training” on interaction of parent-child mothers of school-age children of Ahvaz. This study was an experimental research with pre-test, post-test and control group. Statistical population included all mothers of primary schools in Ahvaz. From among these mothers, 30 mothers were selected by purposing sampling. Then, they were randomly put in two groups of 15 persons each (an experimental group and a control group). The experimental group was exposed to an eight sessions training of POSITIVE PARENTING PROGRAM but the people in control group received no PROGRAM. The Parent Child Relationship Scale (PCRS) of Pianta (1994) was the research measurement tool. The obtained information by multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA), was analyzed by using the 20th version of statistical software of SPSS. The results of multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA) indicated that at least in one of the components of parent-child interaction, there is a significant difference between the experimental and control group (P<0.001). The results also showed that the training of POSITIVE PARENTING PROGRAM had POSITIVE and significant effect on conflict, dependence and total POSITIVE relationship (P<0.001). The results indicated that the training of POSITIVE PARENTING PROGRAM will improve the parent-child interaction.

Abstract: 

Conducting PARENTING role is to enter to social role, which reflects a significant change in person life and identity. In recent years, many PROGRAMs are designed in field of parents training that are different in philosophy, METHOD and effectiveness.In this article, POSITIVE PARENTING PROGRAM is introduced that is based on social learning theory and behavioral, cognitive and emotional principles.Also, it emphasizes on efficacy of mothers in behavior management and control. This PROGRAM is based on five principles: healthy and attractive environment, POSITIVE learning environment, strict discipline, realistic expectations and pay attention to their role as parents. Increase of knowledge and skill, problem solving instruction, entertainment and safety development, enhance of behavioral, intellectual, linguistic, emotional and social effectiveness are specific objectives of POSITIVE PARENTING PROGRAMs. This PROGRAM has five levels, which had formed based on different levels of performance and behavior disorder of children, as well as different needs in their parents. In this paper, after introducing PARENTING PROGRAMs, it had paid to POSITIVE PARENTING PROGRAMs and have been investigated principles, goals, levels and its contents thoroughly.

Abstract: 

Low parental self-efficacy can result in child maltreatment and some effects on the socio-emotional, cognitive and physical development of children. It also can affect the parents’ psychological adjustment. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of POSITIVE PARENTING PROGRAM (Triple- P) on mothers’ parental self-efficacy.The study was an experimental research (pretest, post-test) with a control group.The sample consisted of 24 mothers of 7-9 years-old daughters.Participants completed the Parental Self-Efficacy Questionnaire and Strengths & Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ).The experimental group received 8 sessions of triple-p while the control group received no specific training.Results of ANCOVA revealed a significant difference (p<0/05) in the mean scores of the groups.POSITIVE PARENTING PROGRAM was shown to have affected the mothers’ parental selfefficacy through providing them opportunity for appropriate PARENTING modeling, developing POSITIVE child parent relationship, social support and incorporating the level of knowledge and mothers’ abilities. Some limitations of the study, suggestions for future research, and practical implications are discussed.
